    you’re all class, robert.^^

and, I’m most certainly not sad to see him go. I don’t have the same stake in NY politics as you do but, for what it’s worth, I just think that the guy was much too manipulating and that he did so principly for his own political gain, while hiding behind the supposed gains to society from his work. He didn’t so much use the legal system in his crusades, he threatened to use it. And some of his tactics were despicable.

Nothing new, but the AWSJ had a good opinion column on it yesterday. Let me know if you’re interested to read it. (subscriber site, sorry…)

I hope to see a day when it is possible for someone to not resign over something like this. For some guys, paying a professional is the honorable way to take care of some necessary business.

Having an affair = bad for the family.

Paying a professional = probably not ideal, but if it satisfies an unscratchable itch, and it’s what you have to do, and you can do it and still keep your family intact, then let it be.

    # 4,

The problem is that Spitzer set himself up as some sort of moral crusader, even cracking down on prostitution when he was general attorney. So when this stuff comes up, it sets him up as a hypocrite who has no credibility left anymore. Also the fact that he did this when he’s married and has daughters didn’t help.

If Spitzer was a single or divorced man and didn’t take such a moralist attitude of “I’m gonna get you because you are a bad man/corporation” then I personally would have been a lot more forgiving.

For all his high falutin’ edumacation and social background, Spitzer turned out to be nothing more than a common fool.

I cannot believe he spent his attorney general career going after malfeasance on Wall Street and then used the banks to transfer money across state lines to pay for illegal activity, which in itself is illegal.

Who do you think ratted him out? Oh gee, certainly not the same bankers he tried to destroy? What a complete idiot prick. The lesson here is don’t f*ck with rich Wall Street types.

But really there are two lessons here and the second is don’t overpay for sex. If an escort service is using “diamond” ratings, chances are their value is fake, overpriced and set by the marketers.

#5, I hear you, and I have to admit that I was a lot less charitable about former Idaho senator Larry Craig. As a frequent bathroom go-er, I prefer no shenanigans in there. I want to go in, do my business, and not be invited for anything.

Regarding clients of the working girls, though, I think it’s probably always been about a 50/50 split between married and single guys. I grant the married guys the same working girl visitation rights as the single guys. This probably makes sense to some married guys and not others.

As comments on the article says, get ready for “oh that poor girl, she’s a victim” crap… she’s a ho and she readily admits it. She made a ton of money from her work, more than most ho’s make.

#11: She’s a crap singer, but in pop music that’s a plus… “Can you handle me boy?” Deep.

    #5,

We had a Premier in Canada who had a mistress…100 years ago. But, like shanshinseon points out, this is news because the guy has said in the past some pretty strong words against prostitution. It’s news because it’s kind of like catching another televangelist with his pants down.

    #15,

She does look too old in some pictures to be 22…then again, some people look 40 when they are 25 while others still look 16.

#18. Thank you. I am waking up to the fact that Larry Craig, possessor of an unusually wide stance, has refused to resign.

Regarding the David Vitter guy, I give him a pass on visiting the working girls, but consider him a clear violator of the International Code of the Road for lying about it. He shouldn’t be allowed to represent anyone until he fixes his lying problem.

#18 is ignoring the numerous other members of the other party who, like Barney Frank (who hired a male prostitute for his office) and Ted Kennedy (who drowned a secretary) never were pressured by their party to resign.

It’s not about the sex, per se; but if the guy’s own wife and kids can’t trust him to keep his vows to them, how can non-family members expect him to keep any other oath?

Marital vows are made to spouses, not kids. Moreover, anywhere from 25-50% of Americans, depending on how infidelity is defined, have broken the same vows.

  32. Posted March 14, 2008 at 8:59 am | Permalink

“Marital vows are made to spouses, not kids.”

Adultery is a misdemeanor in 25 states and gives one side leverage in divorce proceedings in other states. It’s true that marital vows are not made to children, but they suffer just as much, if not more, from the consequences.

    Posted March 14, 2008 at 9:20 am | Permalink

    @#32:

Both of your statements are correct but do not negate the fact that marital vows are a pact between spouses. My comment #31 was not intended to diminish the pain children feel when there is any kind of marital discord; it was simply to correct a misstatement in #29. BTW, fornication, or sex between unmarried people, is also a misdemeanor in 1/3 of US states.

    Governor in a burner

A governor made trip to Washington

House representatives told him need not to come

He said, Boys if you know how much I am backed up, you have no right to tell me not to cum

    I am going. he went.

Gave some bogus testimony and then to the hotel

Where his honey ho was waiting

$3000 per hour, she’d better be good

    Spitzer got this way
‘cuz from two months ago his private part has behaved weirdly.

One night, it stopped working and just lie there

    Not working at all

Funny, only when he looks at women other than his wife it stands up

He saw eight different hos since

Sometimes it works, other times it don’t

The governor, now an ex-, is in a burner

He is a fool, for sure

But, the same thing happens to many men, I heard.

A few states might still have fornication laws on the books, but they’ve basically been repealed by a string of court cases. So yeah… it’s actually not a misdemeanor anywhere in the US anymore.
