Korean ‘Neocon’ Drops Out for Unification Post

Nam Joo-hong will NOT be the Unification Minister, it appears:

Nam, a former political science professor at Kyonggi University, has been at the center of a snowballing controversy over his hawkish North Korean stance.

Nam once called the 6.15 Joint Declaration, signed during the 2000 inter-Korean summit, “a document for North Korea’s maneuvering against South Korea.” He also called the 2007 inter-Korean summit a promissory bill bound to be dishonored.

The UDP has raised serious objections about Nam’s ability to serve in the unification position given his ideological views on North Korean affairs.

United States citizenship held by Nam’s family members also foiled his appointment. The Korean public is still largely intolerant of this, which is seen as a means for men to escape compulsory military service.

Pity… I was looking forward to seeing a guy who wrote “There is No Unification” becoming Unification Minister.

Potential replacement candidates for the post include Korea University North Korean Studies professor Nam Seong-ok and former Assistant Unification Minister Kim Seok-woo.

Intolerance stemming from their own jealousy? I’ve seen some on their ‘reserve training’…The majority of the guys I’ve seen looked as if they took no pride in their uniforms. They looked like ‘bags of shit’ as we used to say when I served: lint on their misshapen berets (pizza heads), threads hanging from their wrinkled uniforms, scuffed boots, and (sometimes)a 5 o’clock shadow.

This could be a great strategy by LMB.

Just keep putting anti-norks into the Unification Minister’s job. Eventually he can point to the leftist assembly and say that he tried to appease them but evidently THEY don’t care about that position and it should be eliminated.
