First! Anyway, I find her too artsy for my taste. Pass!

Looks like she’d probably run better than a Ford (supermodel).

I think her face looks too cakey (is that even a word?) with foundation or whatever women paint on these days. I oddly find that Finnish girl on Misuda more attractive than Djamilya. Am I crazy?

something about this girl just screams “ajuma trying to act young”, not her body of course, but her face, expressions and mannerisms….

Am I the only one who gets the impression that this broad is a complete mental case?

When K-girls act like K-girls, I can deal with it. However, when a foreign girl cops K-girl mannerisms etc. I find it totally nauseating.

Not artsy enough for me, but *way* too fake sounding. Maybe she’s doing this to pay off all those cosmetic surgery bills…

I think she’s dumb like a fox. She’s obviously done empirical research into all that Koreans find cutesy-wootsy, and is parlaying it into a nice nest egg before retiring to the dacha.

RE: #4: I oddly find that Finnish girl on Misuda more attractive than Djamilya. Am I crazy?

NYTom, you might be crazy, bro, but it’s not because you think the finnish chick is more attractive. i, too, find her more attractive than dja-milf-ya, so if that means we’re crazy, then so be it.

someone please explain to me, though i’m sure i already have some idea of the reason, why this (sc)uzbek chick always dominates the misuda news?

there are plenty of other hot and/or attractive and/or smart chicks on the show (for example, that japanese chick, sayoori or whatever her name is)

and, for the most part, some of them are smarter and less moronic than the drooling dingleberries that pass for the males on that show’s guest panel…

I’ve seen better looking (and more normal acting) Uzbekis in Pyeongtaek & Waegon. I can see why the local boys go ga-ga over her though. She’s got that whole “Oh Oppa…quit kidding on me” act down to a science. Dumb like a fox indeed.

    Dumb like a fox indeed.

Well, as my wife pointed out last night, she can’t be that dumb, because she’s taking her act straight to the bank.

Oh, she definitely has it down to a science alright. You can her behaving the way she does now and I can sum up her act in three words: tricks for treats. :)

She’s got that air of, “Why are you all here paying attention to little old me?” Could it be that her publicist called every human with a camera to come on down? Could it be that little sign with your name surrounded with lights ten feet tall?
Tell me one thing this woman has said or done to justify our scrutiny? She’s got that Paris Hilton thing going and an equal amount of talent.

The Finnish girl more attractive than Djamilya?!?! Dudes are we watching the same show? The Finnish girl?!?!

And I personally think Djamilya is not as dumb as she makes herself out to be… why? Because:
    1. She’s so purty and i have a tendency of thinking attractive people are intelligent, whereas ugly people are not.
    2. Viewer interest has increased by like 1000% since she’s come on. And her looks can only take her so far. Hence she’s adopted this annoying, albeit entertaining 오빠 schtick that makes for good tv for males (where that shtick never gets old) and for females (because it unites them to hate on her) alike.

I mean look at the way she’s become a 왕따 on the show. I enjoy the way all the other girls are ragging on poor innocent 순진한 beautiful Djamilya more than anything, it’s increased the entertainment value of that show by 1000%. I mean seriously, how can there a true 미녀 수다session without girls ragging on other girls? This show is gradually devolving and within 3 years it’ll be korea’s version of Springer.

if the comment was not made in a sarcastic vein, as cm suggests in #17 that it was, then i’d like to know how the conclusion that attractive people are intelligent but ugly people aren’t intelligent was reached.

  22. Posted January 29, 2008 at 2:51 pm | Permalink

Americans spend more each year on beauty than they do on education. Such spending is not mere vanity. Being pretty—or just not ugly—confers enormous genetic and social advantages. Attractive people (both men and women) are judged to be more intelligent and better in bed; they earn more, and they are more likely to marry.

Faces, too, seem to carry information on intelligence. A few years ago, two of the world’s face experts, Leslie Zebrowitz, of Brandeis University in Massachusetts, and Gillian Rhodes, of the University of Western Australia, got together to review the literature and conduct some fresh experiments. They found nine past studies (seven of them conducted before the second world war, an indication of how old interest in this subject is), and subjected them to what is known as a meta-analysis.

The studies in question had all used more or less the same methodology, namely photograph people and ask them to do IQ tests, then show the photographs to other people and ask the second lot to rank the intelligence of the first lot. The results suggested that people get such judgments right—by no means all the time, but often enough to be significant.

If #15 wasn’t said with a bit of self-abashedness then Sisyphus is rolling a dung-ball up an ant hill.
Our sub-conscious reactions to what is appealing or unappealing certainly has little to do with what is rational.

From my own experience, being good-looking (or just not bad-looking) is definitely a plus for business lawyers.

And there seems to be an appearance hierarchy, too — successful (Western) male consultants of the McKinsey, Bain, Monitor variety all seem to be several inches taller than the average guy. I’m about 185cm (6′ 1″) tall and I feel like a dinky little fellow among the consultants. If I were taller and more athletic I guess I’d be one of them now but instead am damned to law practice.

Not to get technical but since when has a fox become so dumb? I thought foxes were smart? As in “sly as a fox” or “crazy as a fox”?

Anyway, she’s not the dumb one here…yet. If she makes good money outta this and laughs all the way to the bank… well ,you KNOW most of you guys will be looking for the pics/vids on the internet. Or–I cringe–purchase them.

That was my point. “Dumb like a fox” means she ain’t dumb. I think she’s very smart and I also believe she had the whole “Oppa” act planned out hoping to parlay her shtick all the way to the bank; which she has. When she returns to the Uzbek mountains where she came from, all the villagers will get a new goat. You go girl!!!! High Five.
