“According to the police, the two had beaten Chang habitually, who was mentally challenged.”
Pretty sad that the article glossed over the fact that the dude was mentally challenged and habitually beaten, and instead, like the above author, sensationalized the drinking aspect.
Sometimes I get so fed up with what passes for civility in Korea.
Whether one chooses to drink or not drink is no one’s business. This wonderful “drinking culture” diminishes the individual and is a net negative on society.
“habitually beaten” - you’d think someone would have noticed something when he came to work more beat than a bowl of boshintang. Instead nothing was done until his death.
Like a scene from the movie Oasis.
Sounds like these construction workers would be well qualified as North Korean prison camp guards. Maybe they were upset about the new President’s proposal to abolish the Unification ministry.
I guess it didn’t occur to these alcoholics that liquor is hard to come by in prison.
