I'm sure it will be America's fault for the mutants. It could possibly be Japan's fault though.

I know I personally hold America responsible for the color orange.

I blame Japan for hats.

The monster will be one of the former vendors - ddokboki, soondae, or second hand trinkets - of Shindang Market, bitterly angry at the prospect of having to relocate from his stall near the underpass to the Dongdaemun Stadium parking lot because of the Cheonggyecheong project. Security guards - in other words, hired goons - will evict him by force, beat him within an inch of his life, and leave him in a dark alley before a passing English teacher - drunk and full of contempt for all things Korean - pisses on his near-lifeless body and triggers the inevitable mutation and subsequent killing spree...

I imagine that it will be a giant-frog-or-rat-in-a-sewer type of scenario since the stream was once covered. However, since the stream was uncovered with no reported incidents of giant frogs or rats, I am curious to see how they will deal with that fact.

Will it be set in present-day and have a monster that comes out at night from the entrance of the still covered portion of the stream, or will it be set in the past and have a monster that was discovered and killed during the restoration process but was no disclosed to the public because of the bad publicity it would have caused? Or maybe it could incorporate both the past and the present by having a monster that ate workers during the restoration process, was secretly killed, but had an offspring that has now come back for revenge?

Though I am not sure if the story will be set in the past or in the present, I am reasonably sure that foreign English teachers will somehow be to blame for the monster. For example, I can imagine a scenario where a group of pot-smoking Canadians are getting high at the stream's edge when one of them maliciously throws a half-smoked roach into the stream that is quickly gobbled up by an unsuspecting Korean frog that thinks it is a fly.

Anyway, a movie about a Cheonggyecheon monster should help reduce the crowds that walk the stream at night.

#1,

I was thinking the same thing. It used to be even shallower than it is now (I've seen video of the stream before they 'restored' it).

Considering how shallow it is, perhaps the monsters will be giant tapeworms?
