Djamilya to Leave Misuda?

The producers of Misuda has put future appearances by Djamilya on ice after getting complaints from viewers and groups such as the Citizen’s Coalition for Democratic Media.  And what’s their beef with her?  Well they are not happy with her antics which they claim “excessively highlights the sexiness and outward appearance of females”  Asked whether this will lead to Djamilya leaving the show, the producers simply stated that “they are keeping tabs on the situation.”

Not that I’m a fan of Djamilya, but IMO this is stupid.  I mean what Korean TV show doesn’t “highlight the sexiness and outward appearance of women”?    One only has to turn on the TV to see teenaged and twenty something Korean female celebrities strutting their svelte and plastic surgeried stuff while wearing the latest in mini skirts, hot pants, and low cut tops.  And I don’t see the CCDM asking the producers of those shows to remove that certain Korean female celeb.

News of the possible firing of Djamilya has set fire to KBS’s public forum with most of the netizens expressing opposition to Djamilya’s supposed firing with one claiming that some are “jealous against Djamilya” and another accusing the viewer groups of “going after a powerless foreigner” and “showing hypocrisy.”

In this case, removing this ‘powerless foreigner’ would help the rest of the foreigners.

‘Misuda’ has gotten really painful to watch ever since Djamilya came on the show, not because of her alone but because of the producers who focused almost obsessively on Djamilya’s “sexiness” or whatever.

If KBS really wants to put the program back on track, they should replace the producers instead of putting blame on one person who has no power over how the show is edited and presented on TV.

i’ve never watched this show, but wasn’t it accused of being racist and degrading to foreigners in Korea?

I believe that was only one “guest celebrity” who wore an afro wig and made some jokes about dark skin or something. I think the show itself is fine, and I like the fact that they can (usually) get away with criticizing some negative aspects of Korean society because it is hot foreign woman who says it.

There are television shows that do not emphasize the attractiveness of women. For example, sometimes Susan Estrich guest-hosts “Hannity & Colmes”.

    Or anything starring Rosie O’Donnell.

The main producer and other main staffs look like old single males.

<– The man at the page is the main producer of Misuda. Looks strange.
It’s easy to make a man lose its soul, and well, I fond Djamilya is astonishingly beautiful when she’s with other Misuda members.

The wife just translated that article for me. Apparently there are a few reasons she won’t be on the show anymore.

    1. She posted her profile on a Russian “looking for marriage” website.
    2. She used the show to highlight her sex appeal.
    3. She has a TATTOO! (the horror!)

Not to mention Ann Coulter and nearly every female lawyer/financial expert. Why do women on television think bottle blond hair can dress up an ugly face?

Well Seth, actually she put up her profile on the Russian website even though she had a steady Korean boyfriend.

    Exactly.

Besides, she no more over-the-top than some of the female ‘talent’. Her limited knowledge of Korean and foreignness just makes it all a bit more obvious. Give her time and she’ll be able to dish it out like the best ‘CF’ queens and K-pop tarts.

Koreans seem to have weird attitudes towards sexuality and ‘moral’ behavior. They seem to have their version of the Madonna/Whore split going on but in a different way. Are good girls suppose to act uniformly like giggling schoolgirls? Are bad girls what? Prostitutes who are considered trashy? After reading this blog, I understand that there are many many sexual services available in Korea. I am just puzzled since I don’t have an in-depth experience of Korean culture.

If you want her back on the show all you have to do is pretend you’re from a citizen’s group and then ask the producers to put her back on the show.

Haha, that’s awesomeness. I love that type of stuff. Are you putting it on or are you a real Korean?
