Well, that didn’t take long. Could it be an indication that he’ll try to strengthen some of the diplomatic ties that Roh has tested at times to the breaking point?
Well, it was Vershbow who visited Lee to congratulate him. But Lee did suggest that a new Korea-US relationship would form after he took office, citing a lack of trust over the last five years.

Yeah, but just imagine what Roh would have done. “No, not yet. I’m too busy.”
Here’s Bush Thursday am in Washington:
“I spoke this morning to the president-elect of South Korea. And the people there are going to be watching very carefully as to whether or not our Congress understands the importance of the relationship and that they — you know, they pass that free trade agreement with Korea. It’s in our interest we do so.”
