As those CHINESE fans she holds up demonstrates, she’s very much in touch with her KOREAN roots…
Yeah, god knows no Korean would touch a Chinese fan, much less be photographed holding one. She was born in Texas though, so I guess we should cut her some slack.
Well, you know Texas is famous for its large community of Korean Jews.

I only know of two Korean Jews personally. My converted cousin’s child (who is half Korean) and some dude I see periodically at my suburban Cheongju Homeplus who wears the trademark orthodox black suit and skull cap. First time I saw the latter I thought he might be off to a fancy dress party.

A cursory look over its current top level executives revels a slew of people who happen to have traditional jewish last names: Stecher, Cohn, Rubin (past, later treasury secretary under Clinton) and a few who are definitly in fact jewish: John Weinberg (VC), Lloyd Blankfein (CEO)
I would say that a few rich and influential people, who happen to be Jewish, exert more economic and political weight on behalf of their common interests, which happento be Jewish, than they would were their interests merely represented by a grassroots PAC, were it also happen to be Jewish… not that there arents already PACs that … er …. happen to be Jewish…

I spent a year in Texas and my cousins were born and raised there. They would also find that picture rather funny and faux pas as well (from a Korean American perspective of course).

Zonath, that’s pretty funny. I’m from Arkansas, and we used to tell jokes about Texans because we got tired of hearing them brag about how great Texas was.
Then, I went to university in Texas and came to think, “Hey, this place is great!”
Of course, that was after having downed several beers as a Baylor freshman in a Waco bar back when the drinking age in Texas was 18…
Texas has since joined the Union.

So that’s why my Korean never got to the level that I wish it had – my hawking pronunciation (you know, the one that is needed for emphasis and sounds like you’re getting ready to rid yourself of a great quantity of mucus) never made the grade.
sweet jesus, i just had a childhood flashback of eating fried rice in a chinese restaurant on christmas with my family. we were always the only goys there freeloading on the entertainment. looks like this show will be a real hoot. god bless ms. paik-i’m duly verklempt.
I’ve got a good Jew/Asian story…
There was an extended Chinese American family making a road trip from Southern Cal to Northern Cal and they had with them one half Chinese Jewish girl who looked more caucasian rather then asian.
Anyways, they make a pitstop in, I don’t know, the boonies Bakersfield, and are eating at the local McDonalds.
Theres like 10 Chinese people and one little 5 year old blonde haired, blue eyed girl in the mix and this little caucasian boy said to his dad, “how come that white girl is with all those Chinese people?” and the dad just said, “shut-up and just eat your burger.”
