One night some nine years ago, Australian Senator Nigel Scullion somehow managed to end up handcuffed to a stripper’s pole in St. Petersburg, Russia. In his underwear. Not that he’s apologizing for it, though. Instead, he offers these words to wisdom:
“It was a terrific night,” he says of the partying following a fishing conference in the Russian city. “If you ever get an offer to go drinking with Icelandic whalers and Canadian crab fishermen, take them up on it.”
Yep.

Yah gotta love Aussies…
bravo, senator, bravo.
Either it’s a dumb joke or Senator Scullion’s memory is a bit fuzzy.
what’s sad is the state of FEER, once a serious journalistic institution.
i take that back. i was lamenting the stoppage of their print edition. but i hadn’t been to the online site for a while. looks good.
Thank you, Senator! May have I have another? SMACK! Thank you, Senator! May May have I have another? SMACK! Thank you, Senator! May have I have another? SMACK!
he also said that if learned anything from the evening that it was to never let anyone handcuff you to a pole and always wear clean underwear.
