From a friend of mine at the KTO:

The Korea Tourism Organization’s 2nd Look In Every Nook and Corner Food Tour will take place the weekend of December 15th. Following the huge success of the first tour the focus of the campaign is to offer foreigners residing in Korea a chance to discover some of the country’s hidden treasures – traditional Korean gems not often seen on a number of larger scale tours. Essentially, it’s an intimate way of getting up close and witnessing cultural attractions first-hand.
The previous trip took a select group of participants to Boseong, Suncheon and Jeonju. This tour will travel eastward to the province of Gangwon-do, where the group will experience everything from fresh tofu, seafood stew and rice cake soup – the traditional Korean New Year’s dish. A visit to the institute of Korean Traditional Cuisine is also included and is sure to enlighten those wishing to learn more about Korea’s culinary etiquette. Bordered by the sea and towering mountain ranges, Gangwon-do is arguably one the country’s most beautiful provinces.
Given the intimate nature of the tour, seating is limited and those interested must write a short essay expressing their reasons for why they’d like to come. Simply visit http://tour2korea.com to apply. Blog administrators are strongly encouraged to apply and will be given special consideration.

Can’t make the tour, but Gangwon-do is alright. Probably my favorite Korean province. Beautiful scenery, friendly locals, not crowded (at least in the off season), and pretty good food. What’s not to like?
