The one's around seem to be personal imports. I had one in the Uk, so when I decided to buy a car here tried to get one, but only Lexus brand currently supported by Toyota.

Maybe it'll give Korea's carmakers more leverage over their unions, who hold them to ransom every year, resulting in a reverse trickle-down whereby the car makers agree to extortional salary and benefit hikes, then turn around and force their suppliers to accept retroactive price reductions.

I've seen a Prius here and there in Korea already.

I wonder, will the Korean models be able to drive on electrical power only at the flick of a switch like on the Japanese ones, or will that be feature be disabled like on the ones sold in North America?

Good. Maybe this will put some heat on car makers here to develop better co-generational vehicles and related technology sooner.
