Feyenoord Rotterdam striker Lee Chun Soo is in a bit of hot water for striking a bar waitress before leaving for the Netherlands. The waitress initially filed charges against Lee, but later dropped them. (Probably got a huge compensation for her troubles.) More details in Korean newspapers which state that he got into an argument with a “술집마담” and then hit her on the head.

One of a long string of tools in the Korean football team. This is the guy that said he was better than Beckham, but doesn’t seem to think 2 million euros is enough to keep him away from kimchi and bar hostesses he can slap around. My heart bleeds for him.
Decent skill but a punk-ass mofo.
He should just stay in Korea and be content with being relatively big fish in a relatively small pond.
The last paragraph of that article was great:
“The revelation of the bar incident adds another embarrassing tilt to the career of the star footballer, who once called himself “better than Beckham.” It’s now becoming clear that Lee will likely never match the respect the British icon commands from his opponents, nor from women.”
mins, why did you write this?
Wasn’t it to sit back and watch westerners say Lee Chun Soo isn’t a good player nor a good human being?
Do you get something out of that?
fact is, Lee is the most accurate kicker on the Korean side, and probably someone the team can’t do without.
So!
OJ Simpson was a great football player!
He killed his wife and the other dude. Now, he’s just pathetic!
Lee may be a great player, but he’s absolute sh** of a person.
After the World Cup 2002, his ego just exploded!
Maybe he should learn to keep his mouth shut and let the playing do the talking for him. I’m sure he won’t.
I’d bet my left hairy boy that the waitress got a huge payoff to retract the charges and act as if he wasn’t really to blame!
As OJ can tell you, money can buy you all kinds of immunity!
Let’s look on the bright side and assume Lee Chun Soo was actually on-target with this strike; the guy usually shoots high right over the cross bar.
wjk implying min is a race traitor…will be fun to watch wjk get pwned yet again.
I have another idea: how about we make this the test thread, in which absolutely no one speaks to wjk, no matter what he says.
Well, the Koreans I know who’ve read about this aren’t buying the ‘I came back ’cause I caught the flu and I’m really homesick’ story any more than non-Koreans here seem to be. Everybody I’ve spoken with thinks he came back to handle his fuckup.
Lee Chun-soo is a marginal player who thinks he’s god. He’s failed miserably now twice overseas, and once again proved to be an asshole and a failure.
Guys like Park Ji-sung and Lee Young-pyo are much classier individuals who deserve the respect of Korean fans for improving their game and adapting to new cultures, football techniques and difficulties abroad.
Chun-soo has zero adaptability, and absolutely no class.
Free kicks against such football powerhouses like Indonesia and the Maldives aren’t anything to brag about. He’s a failure in top flight football period.
Is this the dude that refers to himself in the third person?
mbk, you summed up Lee Chun-soo - plus how he poorly he compares to Park Ji-sung and Lee Young-pyo - perfectly. I’ve been cheering for the Korean national team since attending a few World Cup qualifiers at Jamshil in ‘97, and Lee Chun-soo has probably been my least favorite of all the Korean players I’ve followed over the years. It’s one thing to be mediocre, but another thing entirely to be mediocre with a shitty attitude.
A little bit of arrogance, flash, and attitude is good - as long as you can back it up. But since he can’t, that just makes him a jerk.
It’s actually quite amusing how this guy handles himself.
