Ford Crushes Kia in European car awards

I was just playing with the power of the headline.  The Kia Cee’d actually did very well, coming in fourth place  in `Car of the Year’ awards done by a group of European journalists, after the Fiat 500, the Mazda 2 and the Ford Mondeo.
Not too shabby.
It even won its group (from Korea’s English-language newspaper of record):

First Snow

We got our first snow of the year here in Seoul last night.

“Cutting Corners”

The Kim Kyung-jun case is not really well chronicled here. I have only half paid attention to it since it suspiciously looks like a smear campaign, and because, let’s face it, “corruption” stories in Korean newspapers might as well be weather reports (morning light extortion and influence peddling, leading to bribes and price fixing in [...]

That was a close call

It looks like Korea’s draft Anti-Discrimination Act was stopped just in time — apparently the new law was to make homosexuality mandatory, as well as prohibit discrimination based on nationality.

Skinny women and hairless macho men

It’s the rumba, Korean style.  On the other hand, I don’t think anyone would want to see my fat hairy butt in one of those outfits any time soon.

Recovery of the Chusan and the Murder of Mr. Brinkmann

Here is the second part of the Wreck of the German schooner, Chusan.
History has often depicted Korea’s shores as inhospitable to wrecked sailors, but, in fact, the Koreans often treated the sailors fairly well and generally returned them to China or Japan where they often met with misfortune.  The recovery of the Chusan is an [...]

Yeah, But Can She Make Manti?

Also on the “Misuda” front, Jamila from Uzbekistan has captured the hearts of Korean TV viewers, mostly on account of this (WARNING: painful to watch) and this. You know, there was a time when Uzbekistan was a major center of learning for the medieval Muslim world. Sheesh… what would Nathan say?
