On September, I posted about the ROKS Doko’s logo, which caused much unhappiness among the Chinese. Probably in response to Chinese sensibilities, the ROKN has unveiled a new logo ,which has all the elements of the older logo(incuding the Konglish slogan), but with the map of NE Asia removed. Pics below show the old logo(top, strangely it doesn’t show the flag) and the new logo(bottom).

Must have been penned by one of those ‘low quality English teachers’ that the Korean government likes so much to talk about.
I like that new one, I actually do. I think they did a good job by dropping the geographical map and replacing it with a flag.
Now if they could just fix this one with missiles flying at where Japan should be…

I don’t think “ROK Ship Dokdo” should be considered Konglish.
Nevermind, now see the small print…
Maybe “ROKS Dokdo” would look/read better than “Republic of Korea Ship Dokdo”, but nothing too strange about the English. Anyway, I think the new logo looks pretty sharp.
Typical! Incorrect use of the determiner. (Or lack thereof.) Lead THE Fleet, Command THE Sea. Project Power is good though. (As long as the stress is correct.)
Depending on the role of the Dokdo, they could also have said, “Sea Command.”
Better. But they really should make it more abstract. Cut out the helicopter. Make the ship simpler and not be a long stick that goes outside the circle. Maybe even take out the ship – replace it with some symbol or other. The flag doesn’t need to be photorealistic. Take out those wrinkles. If English need be there, get someone who can make it sound less dumb.
The source at Occi doesn’t work Peter, is there any other places with the pic? Just asking ’cause that site has used doctored photos before.
Anyway, glad they changed the pic, though I think the flag and ship are ok, the chopper is awkward though.
