I was just playing with the power of the headline. The Kia Cee’d actually did very well, coming in fourth place in `Car of the Year’ awards done by a group of European journalists, after the Fiat 500, the Mazda 2 and the Ford Mondeo.
Not too shabby.
It even won its group (from Korea’s English-language newspaper of record):
Approved by 58 jury members from 22 countries, the Cee’d beat famous contenders such as the Toyota Auris, Nissan Tiida and Peugeot 308, to snatch the No. 1 title in the C-segment for compact cars, according to Kia Motors Tuesday.
The Cee’d is made in a Kia plant in Slovokia. I wonder if someone from marketing helped locate the plant there.
UPDATE: Here are the scores from Car of the Year (scroll down for totals).

Their morning/picanto won “best economy” car a while back in a german driving club report. The c’eed looks a lot nicer for a city car.
I wonder how much of their rating is based on the warranty length (c’eed is seven years).
how about linking the actual european report for veracity’s sake?
Slovakia even

Isn’t Kia part of GM? Or am I thinking of Daewoo….
Daewoo is GM. Kia is Hyundai. Please correct me if I’m wrong on the Kia thing.
