The Blue House has expressed its opposition to the Samsung Special Investigation Bill that is being proposed by the National Assembly.
The presidential office Wednesday urged the three political parties to reconsider the bill for a special prosecutor to investigate the Samsung lobby scandal because it covers too broad an area and would take about 200 days.
Presidential spokesman Cheon Ho-seon said it is inappropriate for the National Assembly to look into the father-to-wealth transfer case involving Samsung at a time when the Supreme Court is reviewing it.
The spokesman also criticized the conservative Grand National Party (GNP) for seeking to look into the money Samsung allegedly gave in 2002 to “congratulate” Roh Moo-hyun’s victory in the presidential election. The allegation is totally groundless, he said..
Roh on the take? Well, we won’t know for sure until the full list comes out. But, personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if the name does come up on the list.

Now THAT’S interesting. A former human rights lawyer objecting to a probe to look into corruption in the largest company in ROK? That would make one suspect that Roh’s got something he wants to hide…
So, they claim the investigation is bad because it would take 200 days? Sounds to me like someone would want it to be quickly swept under the rug. A public inquiry will take time, of course. The Arar Commission of Inquiry in Canada, for example, took over 2 years to be completed.
mmmmm, the prospect of Noh being charged for corruption… I feel “giddy”
