Hey, Maybe the Pinko Ain’t Such a Bad Guy After All

Democratic Labor Party presidential candidate Kwon Young-ghil (a.k.a. Mr. I-Will-Make-the-US-Tremble-like-Hugo Chavez) has pledged an end to the Korea-US Mutual Defense Pact should he get elected. His plan called for a three-staged withdrawal of US forces from South Korea.

I wonder how so many people come up with completely whacked-out romanizations of their own names.

Does he think his name is 킬? Why the superfluous (and incorrect) “h” in “ghil”?

Because they want Americans (as proxy for “foreigners”) to say their names “correctly”. Unfortunately, Roman letters do not directly correspond to hangul and the sounds of the Korean language.

Does this mean Kwon Young-ghil is going to jump from 1.4% popularity to, say, 1.8% popularity?

Make the US tremble?! What a joke! Atlantis may tremble! I know Patrick Duffy would be overcome with fear!

Oh wait. That’s just the morning “piss shiver”.
