From what I understand the idea of Yellow Fever is not solely that (all) white men prefer Asian women. The idea is that some white men (and arguably other races) hold a sexual fetish for Asian women (Or Asian men if you’re of the Gay community). Whether this isn’t a fetish and is more of a preference or is actually a fetish with its base in an imperialist subconscious (i.e. the conqueror [masculine] penetrating and subjugating the conquered [feminine]) is up for debate and, in my opinion, based highly on personal situations.

Man, if I only dated girls who were dumber than me, I’d probably never date!! Call me crazy, but I’m not that attracted to Asian females all that much. I’m not saying they aren’t attractive. That being said, Korean girls don’t do much for me. I’m singling out Korean girls because “here is Korea.” Finding a mentally mature one (which do exist I know) is too much of a hassle. I’m into the buffed gym girl types anyway. I also am not physically attracted to girls with big heads. Superficial somewhat I am.

“Yellow Fever” isn’t a widespread thing at all… But it does exist within a select few. I’ve been asked by some of my acquaintances (from class) to “hook” them up with some “cute Japanese girls” (Yes, they used plural… I know…). One of my friend actually “confessed” to me that he had a fetish problem with Asian girls… it was one of the most hilarious and uncomfortable conversation I’ve ever had (’…dude, why are you telling ME this?’)
But the moral of the story is, such behaviors exist, but nowhere near frequent enough to be considered a social trend… I mean, yeah, some people have foot fetish, but… you know… “Whities like feet!” doesn’t quite demonstrate intelligence.

My opinion is that “yellow fever” and “CCB” are terms for the exact same reason that “white fever” (when applied to white guys) and “Asian Chasing B!tch” (for Asian women) are not : nearly every culture expects and even attempts to enforce a homoculture dating policy.
In other words, does anyone accuse someone who prefers to date same-race people of having a fetish ? Yet, pretty much all cultures accuse those who prefer to date someone else of another race as having a fetish.

I don’t want to get into it but if I may sketch out a response in brief. Miguknamja’s post requires a cultural symmetry, but it doesn’t exist. Which leads to an important oversight he commits in his second paragraph in relation to “fetishes.”
(People have fetishes for objects, by definition. It’s possible, however, to have fetishes for groups of “exotic” people about whom little information is known — outside of the media that potrays them as objects of sexual desire and not much more, anyway. Which is the case for Americans viz Asians, but not as much the case for Asians viz Westerners.)

Relationships do not require equal attraction. Rather, they can roughly be viewed as the sum of both attractions. Thus, no cultural symmetry is required.

To finish on a constructive note, however, the most logical explanation I can think of why you don’t see many Asian men + Western women is that most Asian men aren’t allowed to date Western women, much less actually marry them. Western women are literally taboo for most Korean men.
