It’s a day old, but better late then never. I mentioned in a previous post the plight of four Korean sailors who have been held captive in Somalia for 5 months while the government basically ignored their plight.
Yesterday, they were freed, after the government finally intervened and with the owner of the trawlers reportedly paid off the Somali pirates US$ 1 million, which BTW partly came from donations made by citizens and some groups such as the Korean Red Cross.
First case of donations being used as ransom money. Wonder if we’ll see more of this in the future.
With that aside, glad to hear that the four are coming home.
