You Might Not Be Able to Get a Soapy Massage There…

But at least this Japanese soapland has the common decency to tell gaijin to fuck off in Korean, too.

What if you’re a japanese citizen, but not ethnically Japanese?

  • http://www.korealawblog.com Brendon Carr (Korea Law Blog)

Then you can fuck off, too.

  • tocchin

The house offers a variety of sexual services except intercourse.
Anything you want is negotiable with a girl, which therefore requires
the language skill. Many foreigners demand intercourse or kinky services.
That is why they refuse foreigners with poor language skills.
If you speak Japanese natively, they may accept black or white.

Many foreigners demand intercourse or kinky services.

Well, thank God the Japanese don’t demand intercourse or kinky services.

  • Sonagi

    Robert,

I think you need to add a section with links to quote-worthy comments like #3.

I stumbled upon your blog a couple of years ago, BTW, while googling some topic, which lead me to a “stupid foreigner tricks” thread. After laughing my arse off for thirty minutes while reading other entries in the same category, I added your blog to my bookmarks and have been coming back ever since.

#3: Thanks for the morning laugh. Good to see Japanese spin doctors are as active as their Korean brethren.

  • globalvillageidiot

“Anything you want is negotiable with a girl, which therefore requires the language skill.”

I would guess that sign language is more than adequate to express one’s desire to get some head or a handjob.

“Many foreigners demand intercourse or kinky services.”

Like having the girl change the diaper you poop in, while you’re dripping hot wax on her breasts, after having torn off her middle school uniform? Wait a minute, that actually sounds like more of a Japanese fetish thing!

I wonder what would be considered an embarrassment in an establishment such as this one, for any Japanese. I do not know the answer to such.

  • tomojiro54

Of course this is sheer racial discrimination, but to some degree tocchin is right.

The problem is that Tokyo Times described it as a “soapland” (basically a whore house), but this place falls into another category of Japanese Fuzoku which is called “Herusu (Health!!)” in which sexual intercourse is strictly forbidden.

So it could be that actually the owner of this “Shop” got angry after some none Japanese had demanded sex.

Even a Japanese would be suspended if the owner knew that this customer has “negotiated” with the girls about sexual intercourse.

The current governor of Tokyo who is known because of his friendliness against non-Japanese has promised to clean up the sex industry in Tokyo, and had actually done a clean up operation in Kabukicho (although the main target were illegal foreigners).

The owner would be very worried if he knows that there are rumors about his place that there you can “negotiate” with the girls.

Of course it could be just because some of the girls don’t want serve non-Japanies.

  • bumfromkorea

So… is ‘soapy massage’ like a lap dance or “happy ending”?

  • jameslayne

    don’t buy whores.
    u’ll all go to hell.

  • jameslayne

    just lease them.

  • http://rjkoehler.com Robert Koehler

Even a Japanese would be suspended if the owner knew that this customer has “negotiated” with the girls about sexual intercourse.

True, but then again, I don’t think he’d then post a sign saying “This establishment is for gaijin only.”

  • tomojiro

“True, but then again, I don’t think he’d then post a sign saying This establishment is for gaijin only.

Yep, you are right. Someone should inform Debito about this sign.

    #3,

Your comments made my already fine day even better. Thanks for the laugh, and we’ll leave it at that.

First of all, the Japanese consider gaijin as barbarians. They may be super polite to your face but inside they’re thinking something else about you. Gaijin, esp American, clueless of the Oriental subtlety of mind, take Japanese outward civility and politeness as a license for rude behavior. There’s even a term for this: the gaijin-bash. Hence, “Only Japanese Allowed” signs.

Also whining about “racial discrimination” about something that’s in a legal gray zone is ridiculous. I’d reckon prostitution is not exactly recognized by the law in Japan. I’m not Japanese and I find it terribly annoying, just as you find minorities who always play “the race card” back home terribly annoying also.

Japan is not a multicultural nation, nor do they want to be. Equal rights exists in America because people fought for and America was their home. The battlegrounds for rights were in the churches, schools, prisons, the trial courts. What is your battleground for rights in Japan? Soapy massage joints? Give me a huge frickin break. Furthermore, I venture forth that expats do not deserve equal rights in Japan because expats are for the most part misfit wanderers with a nihilistic outlook on life. Japan is not their home and they do not have a stake in the future destiny of their host nation.

  • nerdieboy

“Many foreigners demand intercourse or kinky services.”

Maybe it’s all the the fucked up things that show up on the internet from Japan that lead these foreigners to demand these “kinky” services, ie., tubgirl, shotacon, octopus/eel porn, and fuckingstopalready.wmv

  • globalvillageidiot

“First of all, the Japanese consider gaijin as barbarians.”

Some do, but not all. So do some Koreans or Thais. But not all.

It isn’t just prostitution where descrimination against minorities occurs in Japan. It can involve trying to get a haircut, have a drink, or go to a public bath, but being refused service. Some minorities are playing “the race card” as you call it because they are actually victims of racism and don’t feel they should accept it with a shrug or a smile.

“The battlegrounds for rights were in the churches, schools, prisons, the trial courts.”

And buses, and restaurants, and theaters…

“Furthermore, I venture forth that expats do not deserve equal rights in Japan because expats are for the most part misfit wanderers with a nihilistic outlook on life.”

So it is alright to punish all expats on the basis of your flawed and prejudicial generalization?

That’s classic. All the more so since one of the groups at the forefront of a lot of these legal challenges in Japan are the zainichi Koreans.

I think some men go there to take a bath. They may not have a good bath tub at their apartments. You know how small Japanese apartments are.

Girls are more of annoyance and some men just tell them to leave but some girls refuse so men have to pull their panties off and slap their behinds till they behave ^^.

  • globalvillageidiot

Indeed, Japanese who look down on gaijin tend to despise gaikokujin like Koreans even more.

Why don’t they have ‘Blowjobs and Hanjobs Only’ signs instead of a ‘Japanese Only’ ones? It’s not as if what goes on behind their doors is well-kept secret?

  • http://koreanamerican431.blogspot.com/ baduk

    Blowjob is kynky.

    Handjob is kynky.

The Japanese do not do those things.

Since this Soap House does not allow straight sex and the Japanese do not do kynky stuff, what do they actually do for 40 minutes?

Maybe I was right. The Japanese just take bath while these women just carry soaps and towels and measure the temperature of water.

Since no Gaijin has entered this exclusive Japanese cultural centers, we may have WRONG idea about the place.

It could be just a simple bath house. Nothing more.

  • globalvillageidiot

“It could be just a simple bath house. Nothing more.”

I think not. This place is dodgy. Look at the outside decor, and look at the prices – $100 and up – and how they climb thoughout the day. There are hostess places (“pink rooms” maybe?) all over Japan with roughly the same design and “beat the clock” rates. (According to my friend in Kyoto, some of the more enlightened establishments will accept foreigners, especially in the mornings and early afternoons.) And, in addition to a cold Asahi or Sapporo, a blowjob or handjob is exactly what you can expect to receive at your table.

  • http://koreanamerican431.blogspot.com/ baduk

The Japanese establishments hate gaijins because gaijins haggle.

When the Japanese go to one of these “whorehouse”, 1) usually they are old men who cannot get an ass without paying for it, 2) they are drunk and hate themselves for going to these decadent places and 3)yet, they like to show they are virile men by throwing money to these poor souls in the tune of $500/hr.

Meanwhile, gaijins like to enjoy most while paying the least. So, they haggle. Usually come in at off-hours and like to exactly what they are going to get and for how much.

Girls hate these type of customers. Make them feel like a low class of street walkers. They hate to describe what they do. But, when they do describe, gaijins want the service for the less money. Gaijins love money. So much so that, even while making love, they are counting pennies.

Eastern minds have difficult understanding this calculating side of Western logic.

Even during a wild party, westerners are wondering if some cups are recyclable.

“expats are for the most part misfit wanderers with a nihilistic outlook on life”

expats in japan only? or any/all expats? regardless, classic. and stupid.
