No Nudes for Ballerinas

by Robert Koehler on October 26, 2007

The Korea National Ballet has disciplined its prima ballerina for posing topless in Vogue Korea. Don’t ask for a link to pics — I can’t find ‘em, and God knows I tried. Not that I’m expecting much — she’s a ballerina, after all.

Better the KNB prohibit the display of a ballerina’s feet – http://myongsmadness.blogspot.com/2006/05/ballet-feet.html. (You really don’t want to see these. Really.) Those will scare off any parent from sending their daughter to ballet class.

I saw the issue and the photography throughout the magazine is generally much better than the American Vogue. Ms. Kim had nice accoutrement’s as well. The shot of her, in costume, was better than the bare chested look anyway. It was no big deal.

The Korean National Ballet board only helps spread scandal with their prurient posturing.

Rob,

I just don’t believe you. How can these vigil, elegant, chaste Korean ballerinas even think about doing nudes in Vogue?

I request. No. I demand photographic evidence to prove these hellacious rumors!… ;)

Did they use the whip, the nipple clamps or shinbari/kinbaku (or even hojojutsu),or all three?

Korean women are inherently too chaste and pure to be doing nudes.

Now, they are, post the fall of the military govt.

First, they did everything the Japanese have been doing. Those sex maniacs with world famous liberal attitudes towards sex. Very creative when it comes to sex.

Hair nude, racing girl, so many parallels.
Probably unfound in the west.

Then, comes these western magazines, who make a living off of women doing nudes. Playboy, Penthouse, and fashion-nude-Vogue.

And, the foreigners say Korean men are full of shit and are chauvinists.

Well, really?

It’s not male chauvinistic to bad mouth your wife’s country, presumably in secret, like a mad dog?

It’s not male chauvinistic to export porn to other countries and recruit foreign women to pose and “model” for your magazines that you hide from children?

Does Korea really need a foreign dirty magazine label to showcase domestic models doing porn?

“wjk”, you are so full of crap. Korea Vogue is run by Koreans, the photographers are Korean and *very* good, it is printed in Korean, in Korea, it is a Korean publication with foreign branding. Additionally, the Korean Vogue is at a comparable level of aesthetic quality to “H” magazine, which is probably the best private subscription magazine in Korea today.

Perhaps a better question is “does America need another moronic troll posting on the internet?”

No, they are not the same. I always had my reservations about Baduk and it seems that my instincts were correct. Baduk is only conservative in the context of California politics. Wjk is a neo-con who had to hide his leanings to get the grades to have the standing he does now.

Hmmmnnn . . . I, however, have not been attacked in a while. Perhaps I should start getting back in the mix. But who to attack? The usual folks have been far more careful of late–sigh.

I long for the good old days of public propriety in Korea when TV dramas and movies could show a man hitting a woman but not kissing her or having sex with her.
