2007 Baekdu-daegan Expedition Progress

I’m just back from spending two days with Roger and Andrew, at Suanbo Hot Springs and in western Worak-san National Park — in some truly beautiful weather at last!  They did not do anything special for Gaecheon-jeol Holiday, but have been enjoying some great times along their way.  Their health is good and their spirits are high, making some excellent discoveries and collecting lots of solid information.

They are just about at the geographic halfway-point of this grand trek.  For the next several days they will be going through the vast Worak-san National Park inside Chungcheong-bukdo (circling north over the long section of the actual BDDG trail which is closed for nature-restoration), including scenic Danyang County.  They should be entering Yeongju City of Gyeongsang-bukdo (with Sobaek-san Nat Park) just before the upcoming weekend, and they will then spend about a week in that area.  We are trying to arrange a Temple-Stay media event at the justly-famous Buseok-sa [Floating-Rock Temple] on Friday~Saturday Oct 19-20th, with a gaggle of other foreign residents and Koreans joining in – i hope to be able to announce it soon.

Check out their Blog for great new video-clips and photos (some of which have me in them, the chubby guy in red shirt…)

Interesting adventure. I think it would be great to be out there trekking with them. I think it would also be a great way to lose about twenty unwanted pounds.

Sure ’nuff — they’re looking quite in-shape by now. Livin’ on very simple food, too… so i hosted them for a lavish beoseot-bulgogi spread :-)
