For the record: I think this woman was merely a tool of the crusty ajoshis we have all come to know and despise. What was she going to do? Refuse to do the story? She didn’t write it.

Love Clazziquai despite the allergy to K-Pop as well… No musical group will ever displace my #1 favorite (Lee Juck/Panic), but Clazziquai was very, very close.
Her English is pretty good for me to think that she has lived in an English-speaking country for a while (high school? college?). Which of course would add to the ridiculousness of her MCing the show that just warned Korean girls of the ‘very real and dangerous’ white men. Oh, you white men and your lecherous, sexually perverted ways…

in case there’s any one wondering, ‘real story myo’ is a tabloid show. marmot called it “trashy” in the other thread, and i agree. it airs weekly on a relatively new cable television channel, “tvn.” horan is the host.
some issues covered in this week’s episode (in my q&a form):
q: why are some girls go out looking to hook up with western guys?
a: because the girls want to improve their english; others want to get married.
q: what do western guys think about korean girls?
a (according to girls interviewed on the streets): they tend to think korean girls are easy.
q: how do korean girls justify having one-night stands with westerners?
a (according to a westerner on the street): they convince themselves that they’re in love.
q: what do korean girls at hongdae do with drunk/high western guys?
a: they take em to love hotels.
as a part of the same segment, the topic of western women come up. these girls come to korea from poor countries to make a living. what happens? seedy korean guys pay them money for seedy things.
‘real story myo’ is not a special news report. it’s an entertainment program that sensationalizes various issues in korea. this week it happens to be about particular aspect of nighlife in seoul, the hemp-loving wayguks who go out looking for a piece, and the “easy” korean girls who give it to them. etc..
clearly, horan is neither a ’sell out’ nor being ‘hypocritical’ for hosting such a show or for hosting this episode.
iceberg’s video would be pretty darn ‘ironic’, if it showed shots of horan walking into a hotel with a blue-eyed wayguk. all i’m seeing is a girl dancing a little at a summer rock festival.
ps: i have finicky tastes in pop/mainstream rock music and as result don’t have a lot of it going around in my playlists. clazziquai are pretty good, however, if you’re into that sort of thing, especially their first album.

since her band was formed in vancouver, and since it seems that she may have spent time in canada or the US (or somewhere english-speaking) enough to speak english fairly well, juxtapose those with the fact that she hosted a show pejoratively sensationalising the interactions of western men and korean women–clearly implying that korean women are easy and slutty and that western men are dirty rotten scoundrels who take advantage of this slutty easiness–and, voila, it isn’t a stretch to call her a hypocrite or sellout.
making it even less of a stretch in considering her to be a hypocritical sellout is one other fact: her pseudo-erotic, braless, gerbil-bouncing dance moves obviously betray the influence of bohemian deadhead-ism, which, as we all are aware, is not a popular “-ism” outside the circle of white-eyed blue devils (or is it devil-eyed white bluehairs? i’m never sure). plainly, her dancing prowess has been influenced by the types of evil that can only be found in the Occident…
therefore, abcdefg, i’d like to hear your viewpoint as to why you think horan is not a sellout or isn’t being a hypocrite, if you’re of a mind to explain.

A: Korean girls don’t have to justify anything to anyone. They can fuck 3 westerners a night for 10 years straight if they want to. They can have a gang-bang with 32 black guys, or suck 54 Japanese dicks in a single sitting if the fancy strikes them.
And the fact that so many Korean men still subscribe to the Taliban mindset, and are under the dumb-fuck impression that Korean women are obligated to justify their relations with non-Koreans, is the reason they still have a reputation for being stone-age chauvinists.
Yes, and what of the issue of Horan’s integrity? She apparently wasn’t personally bothered enough by the topic of the show, nor worried enough about how others would perceive her for having forward it within the entertainment-news media, to have walked away from it. And with her success in music, she could have - this show is far from being her sole means of support.
I like Clazziquai’s music - lots of people do. But her helping to promote xenophobia through the media - even if the show is ‘trashy’ - should make folks think twice before putting any more money in Horan’s pocket.

So, to find out what a western guy thinks, we ask not only Korean girls rather than western guys (preferably dating Korean women at the time), but we ask Korean girls on the street.
This merely reaffirms my long-held belief about Korean-style surveys:
1) Make a conclusion presuming guilt
2) Ask people other than the accused if the accused are guilty
3) Guilt proven !
This happens time and time again not only in the media but by the Korean police as well concerning foreigners. In other words, the foreigners are already guilty. It’s merely a matter of finding enough Koreans who don’t like them to say they are guilty while completely ignoring the foreigner.
