The six party talks have started and there is an elephant in the room that nobody is talking about(Yonhap):
South Korean Foreign Minister Song Min-soon on Thursday played down continuing reports alleging North Korea-Syria nuclear cooperation, saying they were not affecting negotiations under way to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.
There may be a reason for that. I have just read something which indicates that the Norks may have turned over a list of their nuclear material customers to the United States.
If that is really the case (and that is a really big if), then it would explain why everyone has been relatively quiet on the whole thing. The only exception was the Norks, who went out of their way to condemn an action on the other end of the world which would have nothing to do with them unless they were involved in some way (guilty dogs barking and all that).
Sorry, no link as it was not an online source. You will just have to call this a wild Internet rumor.
Hat tip to Tom Coyner’s Korea Economic Reader email service for the story on possible Nork narcing.

Why would they do such a thing? This and KJI not planning to greet Roh in Pyeongyang. I’m really starting to wonder about KJI’s health.
Well, if the North Koreans did narc on the Syrians, it would go a long way to explaining why Pyongyang doesn’t have any friends.
It never ceases to amaze me how much watching North Korea is like watching “The Sopranos”… complete with comàre.
Should anyone wish to read the Stratfor intelligence report on this, you can now find it on my web site at http://www.tomcoyner.com and follow the hot link in the upper right-hand corner.
Wow. Actually, the snippet made it sound like the United States was outmaneuvering everyone on this issue. I wonder who deserves the credit, Condoleeza Rice? It is nice to hear about the US playing chess instead of checkers.
