It’s a sad world we live in, when an honest Korean student can’t go the US and not get duped by predatory American degree brokers and shady Ivy League schools:
“Shin acknowledges that she totally relied on Tracy in writing and submitting the thesis. But she has believed she really obtained a Yale Ph.D. through Tracy. It seems that Tracy was a broker and deceived Shin, and there might be a connection between Tracy and professors at Yale,” Shin’s lawyer Park Jong-rok said.
Between you and me, I blame the Skull and Bones Society and George W. Bush.

So, paying a “tutor” to arrange a degree, rather than actually earning one yourself, is OK. It’s time to extradite this mysterious “Tracy.”
I think we’ve already beaten enough crap out of the fake degree thing, isn’t there a more juicy and interesting news regarding Shin, such as the existence of video tapes of some higher up official banging her?
Not that I want to watch something like that.
Goddamn Engrish teachers and their shady ways!
When I got my Ph.D., start with an undergraduate degree, apply and get accepted into a grad program, live on/near the campus for about 5 years, I actually had to go to classes, show up to the office (most days,) do original research, think for myself, write my own thesis–originil mind you, and have a dissertation defense. I left town a few weeks after my defense and before the graduation ceremony in order to start my post-doc in Seoul, so I still don’t have a gown.
Completely opposite of this broad. She’s at least got the gown.
I hope this typo was voluntary, would make for a fine pun…
And that was just one of the numerous errors and problems in #4!
#5,
I know guys with PhDs and law degrees who can’t type with more than 2 fingers.
Sorry, I understand that this lady faked her degrees and hence was fired from the University. Perfectly understandable.
Can anyone explain for what crime she has been arrested by the police? Why is the police involved?
Is faking degrees that a big crime in Korea?
Let’s entertain the thought for one second that she was indeed duped by an evil American…Does that change the fact that she doesn’t have an MA or a BA and probably plagiarized her dissertation?
In any case, how long do you figure we have left before newspapers print pictures of her in an hospital gown?
Well, leaving aside for a moment that a Canadian recently got six months in the pen for teaching on a fake degree, the case has moved beyond fake degrees to allegations of influence peddling involving the No. 2 man at Cheong Wa Dae.
“the case has moved beyond fake degrees to allegations of influence peddling involving the No. 2 man at Cheong Wa Dae.”
Thanks Robert. Didn’t knew about it.That makes more sense.
I like the part of peddling at Cheong Wa Dae - but was it necessarily influence, or did it have something to do with those photographs?
She took nude pictures which as ugly as she is should be a crime!!!
Come on, she’s not that bad.
You’re the only guy I know of who has even remotely complemented Shin on her looks.
She’s not that bad
And that makes Hatch no. 2.
OK, she’s no Kim Tae-hee, but she’s not exactly Kim Su-mi, either.
Although, to be fair, Kim Su-mi wasn’t too bad when she was young:

#19.
Fair enough. But still IMO the younger Kim Su-mi does look better than the current Shin.
@5 and 6
Wow, did I really type that? If so, I need to take some night classes at the local hagwon or maybe find some English teach for some privates. Anyone want to help me with grammar, mechanics, and spelling?
I have some kinda steroid enhanced ADHD and don’t really think full thoughts or compose in normal, elaborate, sentences. So when I compose, it’s a non-linear process (mess), requiring cutting and pasting and paragraphs that evolve from the middle, end, and beginning. I’ll try to remember to clean up the mess next time.
@5 it shoulda been “original,” or so I say. I was a spelling bee champion in my earlier years. What has happened to me.
She didn’t graduate from the University of Kansas, as she claimed. This alone is enough of a lie to cause the loss of her professional positions.
If she didn’t apply to Yale through its Graduate Admissions Office (in which case she’s an idiot), then she could have been tricked by Tracy. For years. In an elaborate scam which apparently only involved her. Classrooms, classmates, lessons and teachers - she’s alleging that these were faked somehow by Tracy. And throughout this, she never crossed paths with anyone on-campus or off who would have alerted to this fantastic bit of graft. That, friends, is just some more bullshit that got thrown in Gwangju, this time by Shin.
BTW, as mins0306 brought up, she’s fugly - nice clothes, but fugly.
The chica looks like Bryan Ferry. She’s ugly.
I can never remember if it’s Bryan Ferry who I want my girlfriend to look like or Brian Eno.
Sorry, that should read ‘fantastic bit of grift‘ in #22.
I got my PhD from SNU through my broker, Mr. Hong Gil-dong. Nice guy. Great correspondence program, credit for life experience, don’t have to set foot in class, 101 percent legit.
“Classrooms, classmates, lessons and teachers - she’s alleging that these were faked somehow by Tracy. ”
How much does she expect us to believe that she paid this guy?
I believe you mean a fantastic bit of minge.
I guess this makes me #3, then.
As for Munhwa Ilbo getting beat-up, did they really publish the pictures of her in the buff, or with the huge black box covering everything except her arms, legs, and head ?
If in the buff, what the heck were they (not) thinking ?
If with the gigantic black box covering everything up, what’s the huge fuss over ? I see more skin than that from most women riding the #2 line.
Finally, what the heck kind of defense is that with Tracy ? She’s a self-shoveling dirt pile (piling dirt on top of herself, like a self-licking ice-cream cone).
