Shoot the Translator

The White House said yesterday’s “spar” between Bush and Roh in Sydney was due to a translation error.

That’s some self-serving spin by the White House — par for the course, I guess, but why do the dunce Roh any favors?

I think the Republic of Korea ought to give that translator a medal, because she tried to save Roh from the sock in the snot box that he so richly deserved.

A professional interpreter would make such a basic mistake. Roh was trying to trap Bush into saying that he would not sign a peace treaty with North Korea.
