I know I am the last guy on this website to point this out, but Dong-A Ilbo should find a round eye to prevent a line like “This is not doll“. On first glance I thought somebody stole my idea to get exclusive Korean rights to the Hotdoll.
Editor Needed

Some insight about English-language news media here: These newspapers do hire round eyes to edit the copy and in some rare instances, round eyes with genuine journalism backgrounds are employed. It is not always just a bunch of disgruntled former hagwon/kindergarten teachers who could not care less about the quality of their work.
But at the end of the day, whatever careful attention to detail done by the round eyes is almost always undermined by Korean desk editors/managing editors who think they know better. Or worse still, Korean page designers/layout staff who do not speak a word of English but will make headline or caption changes to make the copy fit.
It is very frustrating. And the constant criticism from English readers toward the papers is well deserved but it should be from a different standpoint: Instead of asking, “Don’t you people have editors?” you should say, “Why don’t you fools listen to your editors?”
You bothered to post over a missing article in a headline? Slow news day? And why is a round-eyed editor needed? I think there are plenty of native English speaking gyopos qualified for the job.
I’m just appreciating the irony of Dram man pointing fingers at editing mistakes.
I just wanted an excuse to bring up the Hotdoll again. That thing has me in stitches!

There’s obviously something dangerously wrong with the Hotdoll if you need stitches.Perhaps you should consult with a personal injury lawyer.:)
pot meet kettle…
The Hotdoll is wrong on many levels, but the English Dong-A disturbs me almost as much.
I notice that the English editing at the Joongang Ilbo, English Edition has slipped… It used to be great.
I know a woman who quit that paper a few months ago. When she got the job she was delighted - she had a journalism background and she was finally going to be able to get out of teaching, do some real journalism.
But they just used her as a proofreader, from 2 pm to past 10 pm, no other input wanted.
