Anyone know of an amateur men's baseball league in Seoul? Not softball, but baseball. I played in college, and would love to play again, but never found a team. Probably not too likely, but thought I'd ask in case anyone had heard of anything.

#29.

I've played baseball long enough to know that it's a great game to play, but watching it is just slightly more interesting than watching mold grow.

He didn't have to test positive. He admitted it. He said he simply did what the top dog, who's now in prison, of Balco told him to do. He admitted to using the clear and the cream but said he didn't know what it was.
Look at the size of his dome for crying out loud. Any questions?

I'm not a fan of Barry Bonds, and I hate the Giants (but that's a story for another day). However, you have to give the guy kudos for hitting that many home runs. Boosted or not, the guy still has to hit the ball.

I watched the record breaking game on TV here in Korea, and I will have to say that the congratulations announcement by Hank Aaron, one of the classiest guys in the history of baseball, will go a long way in removing the asterix from Bonds' record. While most people, myself included, passed judgement on Bonds a long time ago, the fact remains that he has never tested positive for steroids nor been convicted (yet) of any wrong doing.

IHBB, you're sick, you're twisted, you don't get out enough, and the world needs more of your kind. Fag boy. But with an *.

As for Barry, say what you want - he's aloof, arrogant, an asshole, whatever - but he loves the game, and plays it better than just about anyone ever has. (Although I agree with an earlier comment that, barring injury, this record will be owned by A-Rod some day).

The Barry-haters have been whipped into a frenzy by sports writers that have been derisively treated by Bonds for years.

He's treated them to all the respect that many of them probably deserve. He knows it. They knew it. And they richly hate him for it.

And how many Gold Gloves does Bonds own? Due to 'roids?

Not gonna argue with you someguy. If you've never played you won't get it. There are guys with boilers but they're usually specialists and would be better in their limited roles if they put down the bucket of fried chicken. If those guys make it to the playoffs it's on the backs of their teammates who are in shape. 162 games is a long season. The ones in shape keep going.

#24, #25

Well, two athletes on the field doesn't make it a sport. What about all the other players, the ones with a beer gut?

The problem with you argument is that you don't need to be in top shape to be a good ball player, certainly not in MLB.

Face it, if baseball is a sport, it's a low impact one...like chess.

Wow Dlatn, I don't quite understand. Alot must go on that I'm not aware of. I didn't see where IHBB singled you out or called you or anyone a gaylord. Would that be Gaylord Perry? Now that guy cheated. He threw a ball with the kitchen sink attached to it. Hey, if you're not cheating you're not trying. Nobody likes a Jake.
And if that scene that IHBB conjured up isn't gay, then my ideas of reality are skewed.
Bonds is going to catch shit because he's got a false sense of self entitlement. He treats the media and the rest of the world as sub-species. He also treats us like idiots. He thinks that we'll believe he, the ultimate control freak, didn't know what he was putting into his body. At the height of the early investigations on Balco, when we first realized he was doing the clear and the cream, he actually used his son during interviews to deflect questions. The guy is the lowest of slime.
If you are a true fan, records become somewhat incidental. All that matters is the next World Series.
Dlatn, you went to UCSD. Pricey! Fine school though. Did you ever go up into that weird ass library? What's that like? I myself went to SDSCC. Best community college in California. Go Aztecs!

"We just need to remember that these were the same outlets that didn’t seem to notice when McGwire and Sosa magically packed on muscle and tore up the record books. Whether they didn’t care, whether they were trying to erase the memory of the lock-out, whether they didn’t notice . . . who knows,"

It was probably the passage of 8-9 years, during which time the revelations emerged.
