Give Us Harry Potter!

Apparently Death Eaters have come to Korea and, somehow, I do not think it will avail Lord Voldemort whatsoever if his faithful Death Eaters stand in front of the American embassy (I just finished the last book). I was surprised to learn that Kyobo had the last Harry Potter book on the very day of its release. The original untouched photograph — courtesy of AP/ChosunIlbo — is here.

You realize this is a photochop, right?

Although it seems a bit insensitive to use a Taliban-hostage situation photo for Harry Potter photochop… but it’s still funny, so I’m okay with it.

    You don’t say “Danson”.

My friend Severus Roh assured me that this was real but I think if you were to considered the motivations of these Death Eaters, in standing out in front of the American embassy, you would understand they are more than just “insensitive”, more likely, they have been imperiused by the Dark Lord. If these people really wanted to be helpful, they might offer their assistance to the hostages’ families and their church, but instead, the Death Eaters seem to be cursed with playing politics.

    R. Elgin, I don’t think the protestors want us to give up Harry Potter since only people who believe in magic could think that Koreans are not responsible for their own actions.

    Damn funny though.

I don’t think these Christians believe in Magic. In fact, they believe Harry Potter is evil, according to Jerry Falwell, the oracle of all things reasonable. So, even if Harry Potter were to show up in Afghanistan to save them, I think they are allowed to accept that help.

    @ #4, Elgin

I meant to direct my “You realize this is a photochop, right?” at WangKon, who said “I ain’t ever gonna defend this stupid behavior.”

I wasn’t sure if he meant the behavior of (a) Harry Pottering around in front of embassy, or (b) behavior of photochopping over a sensitive/on-going topic for laughs.

    . . . (b) behavior of “photochopping” over a sensitive/on-going topic for laughs.

Oh no, please do not misunderstand my motivations here. I would never make fun of those poor hostages and their situation, rather this is pointed satire aimed at these local “Death Eaters” and their accursed actions.

Pardon my ignorance, but are these people (in the real, not “chopped” photo) in some kind of Harry Potter garb? Because if they are, kudos to them for making light of the entire hostage situation and setting back the campaign of the anti-Yank NGOs.
