I wonder how many people won’t read the article because it puts into question their own attitudes towards Muslims and their reaction to the kidnapping.
I won’t read it because it’s the Korea Times
Islam is a broad-based religion with many different types of adherents. Not all of them have suicide vests in their closets. But segments of Islam could do with a little reformation.
Forgive me for not getting misty-eyed. It’s all very easy to pray for the hostages’ safety in all this, particularly when safe release of hostages = release of Taliban. The Taliban itself is no doubt praying for the same thing. What I never hear is any real indignation or sense of horror from Muslims about these ongoing outrages. There’s inevitably that bit about how the West is ultimately responsible for what the Islamic terrorists do.
The “liberal” Muslim has more sympathy for the Islamic terrorist than the liberal Christian has for (say) that guy who was shooting abortion doctors in the US a few years back.
