Update: Apparently, the problem has been fixed, and my comments are showing up in real time again. (It’s all about me, me, me! after all….) If anyone encounters this problem in the future, contact the blog administrator at marmotshole AT gmail.com.
Original post: If anyone is having trouble posting comments, rest assured that you’re not the only one. I’ve tried submitting a number of comments on a couple of threads in the last 36 hours, and not one have them has shown up on The Marmot’s Hole. Obviously, if you’re experiencing the same problem as I, there’ll be no point in commenting here, because the comment will disappear! I’ve emailed Robert about the issue, however, so hopefully he’ll be able to address it soon. (I’ve posted this partly just to see if I can write posts—let alone comments—and in case Robert misses my emails.)
Update: Bizarre. Even the test comment that I tried posting to this post—my own post—didn’t show up. Oh, Robert…?
Update 2: Apparently it has to do with the Askimet spam protection software, which Robert posted on back at the end of May (a century ago in blog years). I wonder if folks posting from hormel.com (makers of the real McCoy, actual “SPAM”) have this problem? (More intriguingly, though, all my comments from two different domains have disappeared.)

sewing, maybe you’re over the secret quota.
It’s the Askimet spam protection. Trying to rectify the situation now.
Perhaps it’s a sign.
Thanks for looking into it, Robert.
Careb, judging by some of the more prolific commenters here, I don’t think so.
Dogbertt, that could very well be the case.
The password is “Popsicles”.
That last comment showed up several hours after I posted it. How about this one? Is the problem fixed?
D’oh!
“makers of the real McCoy, actual “SPAM””
I find it slightly amusing that the American expression “the real McCoy”, meaning of highest quality, refers to someone who was Canadian (by birth), or rather his invention.

PS. I know that there is some dispute concerning the origins of ‘the real McCoy’ (in every sense possible), but it’s funny nonetheless.
Sewing — For some odd reason, Askimet doesn’t like you and Seth Gecko. I’ve notified my Askimet, but it takes about a day for it to learn.
I had problems with posting, as well. But I always save my comments before I post them, so I can try again if the post does not appear…
Robert: thanks.
It’s killing me that I can’t respond to comments in real time, let me tell you.
Heck, it’s killing me knowing that even this comment probably won’t show up for several hours. Oh well.
Woo-hoo! Problem fixed!
