My Favorite Place in Korea: Bongjeong-sa Yeongsan-am

If I had to pick my favorite spot in all Korea, it would be here — Yeongsan-am Hermitage of Bongjeong-sa Temple in Andong.

If you’ve seen “Why Did Bodhi-Dharma Leave for the East?“, you may or may not recognize the place.

Directions to Bongjeong-sa in English can be found here.

That’s a beauty. I’d like to visit. Viewable in Google Earth? Coordinates if possible?

Thank you, sir—another new place to visit on my next trip! First stop, that garden in Yongin, then off to Andong we go!

Yeah, really beautiful architecture, one of the best. Right next to the main temple, so picturesque. I was guide for a group of Ambassadors doing Temple-Stay at Bongjeong-sa a few years ago, and we got to sleep overnight in Yeongsan-am! Man, sitting on the front-pavilion overlooking the garden in the silent night under a near-full moon — was magical. Jijo-am Hermitage just a 20-min walk up the mtn is a great place too…
