The Russian army one might have something to do with recent revelations that many young recruits have been raped and forced into prostitution.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6356707.stm
Well, that doesn’t sound pleasant…
I was going to say – this sounds really old news. There are a number of articles scattered throughout the net of the Russian military pimping out their young soldiers.
rn, yes and no. The old news stories mentioned that they beat the crap out of them but left out the part about rape and prostitution.
I am pretty sure I came across several of them…will have to go back and look for them. I remember I also came across that suppressed article on the Child Porn market – a Western blogger in Russia did a posting on it using local newspapers (Russian) and was attacked for it (in print) for daring to print it and challenging his sources. Russia seems to be the place for a lot of great stories (great for a journalist) but also a great place to end up with a hole in one’s head
The military can not attract the talent it needs to market itself.
