There’s a cool festival happening in NE Seoul this weekend, with the above title, held by Gangbuk-gu District. All kinds of cultural aspects of Korea’s mountains, with an atmosphere of public celebration. Music, dance and other performances (old Korean, modern Korean and western) 7-9pm Saturday evening. Then an international “mountathon” and group-climbing event up over Samgak-san’s Yeong-bong and back starts 8~9am Sunday. General festival-goings-on with mountain-culture orientation, including various exhibitions and performances, happens at the site all Sunday morning. They welcome participation from all kinds of international tourists and residents. Should be a good time…
This will all be held at the Pine-Forest Park outside the Hotel Green Park in Ui-dong of Gangbuk-gu (closest subway station is Suyu on Line #4; take a bus or taxi from there). For more info check out the Gangbuk-gu website (in Korean), or call city official Thomas Kim at 011-895-9284 (he speaks pretty good English).
