From the Hee Won garden of Samsung’s Ho-Am Art Museum in Yongin:
Hey, it ’s a peacock!
The Hee Won, built in 1997, may be one of the best examples of Korean traditional garden design anywhere. Coincidentally, to mark the garden’s 10th anniversary, the Ho-Am Art Museum is holding a special exhibit on the traditional garden in Korean art. It’s really worth checking out.
I’ll be posting a possibly long photo essay on Joongang High School, Bukchon Hanok Village and the Unhyeongung Palace Yanggwan tonight. It is, after all, apparently all my hanbok-clad ass is good for.

How about a post with you modeling you various Hanbok? I’m sure you have quite the variety, and it would be educative for all the noobs that read your site.
By the way, how do you get around to these places you photograph?

Great photos again–and I’m sure you look great in a hanbok on a palanquin (neastud = hi kushibora!).
I’ve never been able to make it down there, but I’ve always wanted to. Thanks for the link - maybe this summer I’ll finally go and check it out.
I could be wrong, michael, but I think that Tabitha, a relatively new poster here, also sounds a lot like Kushibo/Nora/Melinda. If that’s correct, one interesting aspect about Kushibo’s sock handles is how he seems to prefer women’s names ending with ‘A’.
As I said, I could be wrong…
And don’t forget to throw in some restaurant posts while you’re at it.

Peacock…mmmmm…almost as tasty as peasant.
And I agree w/ sanshinseon.
Yes, he has two eyes for it in fact right now. Peacocks have beautiful plumage (as the saying goes), but their squawks do not set them apart as romantic songbirds. And that one does look intimidating, perched up there on the wall like that.
Robert, do you have a horsehair hat to go with your hanbok?
“야 뭘 보냐?” (”Hey, what are you looking at?”), it seems to be asking to the behanboked photographer.
I looked at their site but still could not figure out the best way to travel there. Robert, what is a good way to get their. Can one just go to Yongin City and do a cab from there or what?
Best to take a bus to Everland, and there they have free shuttle buses to the museum every hour.
I’m definitely checking this place out on my next trip!

HI there, I am currently in Seoul and would like to go to Hee Won Garden. But I do not find the directions. COuld you tell me in frief how to get there or more or less the whereabouts? This would be great, as I do not find them on the internet.
