Around the world, performers and producers are kicking themselves for not thinking of Lee Hyo-ri’s brilliant and unique marketing plan themselves (chosun):
“I’ll seduce Japanese fans with my sexy looks,” promised Lee Hyo-lee, revealing her strategy for cracking the Japan market.
However, she might have given too much information to her rivals when she went into more detail about her plan:
“There are a lot of talented female singers in Japan, but I think my bright and healthy image is my trademark,” she said. “I bring spontaneity and naturalness to my performances, instead of simply following a script. Wouldn’t Japanese men like it if I appeal to them with sexiness? Sexiness is my weapon.”
All kidding aside, the piece does give one inadvertent piece of cultural reporting when Lee talks about her relationship with a younger co-star:
“Lee Dong-gun never referred to me as his elder, he called me by my name,” she said. “I don’t know why, but it feels fine for me for a younger guy to call me by my name, and not ‘nuna’ (elder sister).”
That is nice of her. I know that it bugs my wife to no end that her younger brother doesn’t call her “nuna,” although that might be a little different since they are blood relations.
In any case, with interviews like this perhaps Lee Hyo-ri is ready to graduate from being the Korean Britney Spears to being the Korean Paris Hilton.

Looks like Lee Hyo-ri’s secret is out. Who would have guessed it?
“I’m too sexy for my shirt too sexy for my shirt
So sexy it hurts
And I’m too sexy for Milan too sexy for Milan
New York and Japan”
she is pretty slutty but in a nice way!
She sure has gotten cocky.
Wonder how she will react when her fan base gets tired of her and stops paying attention to her.
To appeal to the Japanese she ought to go with irregularly aligned teeth. Nothin’ sexier that crooked bicuspids that protrude. Except, maybe,
grillz?
Fo’ shizzle.

Lol… wait a minute. So Lee Hyori used to rely on her singing ability for promoting her career, as opposed to sex appeal before all this? X-D
and the korean entertainment industry wonders why the ‘korean wave,’ is dead in japan.
Wow, she sounds like a pompous twit, who would have thought? And I think BOA already owns the “bright and healthy image” in the Japan market….
She’s gonna have to strip down to make it in Japan. They’re serious about their T&A.
