Nonghyup Bank bank is doing its part to ease the heartache of Korean soldiers stationed in Iraq. Apparently, Korean soldiers are experiencing the same thing the American soldier faced in Pusan in 1945, relationships breaking up because of distance and duty. Evidently many of them are receiving their “Dear Moon-young letters” via the internet.
Gil Yoon-jung, an official with Nonghyup Bank has been reported as saying:
”Soldiers who can show letters or e-mail to a bank clerk proving their breakup can receive a new deposit plan with better rates and waived service fees…[and] as much as a 0.3 percentage point premium a year for proving they are no longer romantically attached.”
What is even better - it is not only for the men, but women as well. “The new plan will also be offered to female soldiers, family members of professional troops, wounded veterans, and trainees.”

I read about this in the Joongang insert in yesterday’s IHT, and I got the impression that the premium is available for a limited time only, to those who qualify and apply for the account during the promotion period.
“The new plan will also be offered to female soldiers”
gee wow, holy cow
The news continues,
“and soldiers with such letters can receive .5% reduction in loans for tractors and seed money.”
Nonghyup. Leading the way to a brighter future.
Actually, tractors and seed money might not be a bad idea. Korea generally ranks #9 worldwide in vegetable production, right after Japan, so someone is making money off of agriculture. (Source, The Economist pocket “World in Figures” for 2003).
For the sake of non-native English speakers who may be using your site as a learning tool, would you please change “your” to “you’re” in the entry title?
WTF?
I predict that girlfriends breaking up with their boyfriends by mail or email will begin adding embarrassing details, such as “You are terrible in bed and you have a small penis”, to the letter to make sure the boyfriend doesn’t try to apply for the reduced loans.
if break ups were based on penis size all korean guys would be opening those accounts
if your a blog righter, perhaps you should have pade closser attention in forth grade spelling class.
“The new plan will also be offered to female soldiers”
