The software comes from a company called FXhome. And it's an actual legitimately purchased copy. Go figure. Relatively inexpensive for the results. And the light saber effects are really good (one of the class movies I'm working on has a pretty good light saber battle).

"globalvillage idiot, when I was going to elementary school in the ROK, it was customary to give a gift to the teacher. I’m not sure if it everything was in the spirit of bribing. Didn’t the students who were passing the class offer you gifts as well?"

At the university level, you might get a can of coffee, a flower, or something small. It's a nice gesture, and isn't related to bribery as far as I can tell.

In the public system, bribery has been a huge problem. (I know some parents who send their kids to private elementary schools. Not only is the education better, they claim, but teachers don't ask for extras.

"What made me uncomfortable was singing that song for the teacher and wondering exactly how the teacher was like a 2nd parent. ?"

That would creep me out too. Nice sentiment I guess, but a little over the top.
