Colbert does Korean pop

To prove he’s more influential than Rain, Stephen Colbert does his own Korean music video [Comedy Central]. Painful. Very painful. At the same time, it does show Korea’s rising cultural profile—just a couple a years ago, no one would be making jokes like this (HT to Tony)

    #4 cm, I second that.

Hopefully, the die hard Rain fans won’t get their hands on the Steve Colbert video, because they will certainly do some things that will ruin all the fun.

Koehler: do you mean “painful like a Korean R&B video?” That clip had me in tears.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the picture of “Rain” actually Lee Jun-ki?

That’s what my daughter says too. I know it’s not Rain — his slightly retarded-looking visage is unmistakable to me — but have no idea who it is.

ROFL! That has got to be the most hilarious music video I’ve ever seen. “Singing in Korean”, heh!

I can see people who’s not familiar with Colbert Report and its structure be offended by it. As a hardcore Colbert fan… LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

The reporter missed the joke, but netizens got it. They all chided the reporter for being thin-skinned about the comedy skit.

I always thought my singing room pronunciation was much better than my everyday butchery of the language. Colbert seems to bear this out. His spoken Korean sounded a little bit like Chinese to me.
