St. Lucia, an island paradise if there is one, has formally recognized Taiwan. This has angered mainland China, whose policy of suppressing all support for Taiwan is absolute, in that, in the words of one professor of East Asian politics:
. . . China’s foreign policy is still based on the idea that “there’s no space for Taiwan in the world.”
to which the foreign minister of St. Lucia added:
“Support those who give you the most.”
How different things are for Korea . . .

Bravo for St. Lucia, which truly is a beautiful place. I spent the better part of a cold New England winter some years back crewing a 50 ft Morgan in the Windwards out of a base in St Lucia. Sailed past that mountain in the background of the picture many times. Great memories now fondly recalled.
The article did make me consider that many problems that Korea faces has to do with Korea being too close to China.
St. Lucia looks beautiful as well!
