   If you use LCD there usually is an auto adjustment function. That should take care of the offset problem.

   My display has an auto adjustment function as estebanko suggested. But if yours don’t. Try running sax2.

   I use openSUSE. Have you tried XGL/Compiz/Beryl yet? It’s awesome.

   Be very careful: if Ubuntu is a Linux-based operating system, then it’s a slippery slope from there to the UNIX-based Mac OS/X. dda is trying to convert you to becoming a Mac user! Beware!

   I installed Ubuntu on my floortop several months ago. It was in vain because it didn’t support WEP encryption, which is what I use, for wireless networking.

   Maybe this will help with your WEP issue.

   Following the links you’ll find a list of supported NIC’s, and swapping out an unsupported one is easy enough on a desktop.

   R. Elgin, that is so brilliant, it brought tears to my eyes. NOW I know why customers’ servers sometimes inexplicably stop working! My goodness, I must have seen that once over 30 years ago and completely forgotten about it. Good times, good times.

   Netizen Kim, which laptop do you have? I installed Edge on Dell 8600 using ndiswrapper. Allows you to load Windows drivers into Linux. Flaky from time to time, works about 90% of the time. I know they could definitely do little better. BTW, thanks for the link seouldout

   I’m still a bit weary of installing Linux in my box, but if Unbutu recognizes Windows drivers, that might be enough to make me try it out. You don’t have to ‘mount’ the drives for them to function anymore, right?

    SomeguyinKorea, Just download the Ubuntu disk and you can boot from it without installing first. That should give you an idea of whether the thing will run.
