The last surviving member of the North Korean trio that attempted to assasinate South Korean president/dictator Chun Doo-hwan while he was in Burma in 1983 could go free if Myanmar establishes relations with Pyongyang again. Several members of Chun’s cabinet were killed in the attempt. One NK operative was shot while on the run, one was executed, and the one remaining has been in prison so long he has learned Burmese and doesn’t want to go to either North or South Korea if released.

Oranckay, Burma and North Korea have signed an agreement to resume ties today. Since the time when ties were severed between the two countries, they now have so much in common and we are really now seeing the mere formality of ties between monsters, coddled and aided by their mother, China.
I only wonder just what this might mean for South Korea, especially considering the role of Daewoo and Doosan in giving arms technology to Burma illegally and this current administrations culpability in this affair, but then no one is talking just now.
