"Sorry, but crying for the government censorship of the internet is a testament to one’s own lack of good parental skills."
I am not crying for censorship -- I have not even hinted at it. You seem to be imagining that I am, which is far from what I said. On the contrary, I think you overstated the concern some decent people have by misconstruing it as censorship, and rather than admit that, you are now switching to an ad hominem attack implying that I lack good parenting skills. Nonsense. I don't use the computer as a babysitter (who would?) and if you had read my post, you would have noted that I was in the same room when offensive material came up before my horrified child. Porn should be available to those adults who want it. But it should NOT be forced on those who do not want it or children. Why place all the burden on those that do not like it to keep it away? And if they complain, you are going to label them as censors?

Accidentally stumble upon porn? Only if you don't have proper protection. Heck, I even change my IP address from time to time.

Uri,

Sorry, but crying for the government censorship of the internet is a testament to one's own lack of good parental skills.

Protecting my kid against internet porn is very simple: I don't use the computer as a babysitter.

I limit the amount of time he can access the internet, and I make sure I'm in the same room while he's surfing.

Someguy, is protecting children from porn really as extreme as a "pretext push" of a "moralistic agenda in the hopes of increasing censorship"? Most parents I talk to seem to think some matters need to be wait until they are "age appropriate." If porn doesn't fit that bill, what does? Perhaps you have not yet accidently stumbled onto an internet orgy while helping your kid look up stuff for science class. No one is ever going to stop porn, so I think you can rest assured.

E ghads, all of the crying and weird sh*t. The Japanese are sickos when it comes to sexual penchants. I don’t blame parents for trying to shelter their kids from that crap.

I agree with "Someguy's" assessment.

IMHO, Attitudes towards sexuality are developed on a very personal level through the interaction of people and not by simply watching it on the internet. One's parents can play a very important role in their children developing a better understanding on such matters, providing the parents do not abdicate their responsibilities as leaders within the home.
