Adoptee accused of killing mother in Chicago

A Korean adoptee has been arrested [NoCut News, Korean] in Chicago on charges of brutally murdering his adopted mother [Chicago Tribune].

    Interesting difference in coverage. The Korean article screams about the adoptive relationship in the headline and repeatedly in the text. The Chicago Tribune story never mentions that the son was adopted but strongly hints at such by publishing photos of white mother and Asian son. I guess adoptees are as capable as any other children of committing matricide.

    Jae Harrell pleaded guilty in November to retail theft in Downers Grove and was sentenced to 3 years in Hill Correctional Center, but was paroled Jan. 22, according to Illinois Department of Corrections records. He also was charged in 2006 with domestic violence for allegedly battering his mother, but the charges were dropped after his mother declined to appear in court, according to DuPage County Circuit Court clerk records.

    Other previous criminal charges include three misdemeanor thefts, one retail theft and an attempted unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

    Maybe he was raging on PCP when he killed his mother.

    I guess adoptees are as capable as any other children of committing matricide.
