Korea is Not #1. Damn, it’s not even #2! — in spam-sending. It might not even be #3, the article (Yahoo News) doesn’t say who is. But in the reported situation that almost 70% of all e-mail originating in Asia is spam, at least Philippines and China are ahead of South Korea. Come on, where is the Pride?? Korea can do better than this, if it tries…

Korea fell from number three (a few years ago) to sixth place now because of changes in spamming tactics and networks. Instead of using machines that have a Korean IP address, wouldn’t it be better to simply infect a lot of machines through out the world and control them from Korea?
Certain Kornet administrative personnel seem to control a few botnets (hi-jacked computer networks that send out spam) and this is the word from people who should know. I know after I started using a really nice bit of spam reporting software, Kornet began to block my software by making it so can not access the MX records so the software could not look up the IP source of the spam. It will be a cold day in hell before the Korean Government does something about the criminals that actively work for various ISPs, but to be fair, ISP administrators in Korea — as well as in the US — are subject to bribery so that certain things can happen which are not legal. America is still the worst source of spam in the world.
What software would that be? I’m curious to see what it will turn up on my machine.
Korea has its own alternatives to V1AgrA and C!aL1$. Have yet to see any spam w/ the subject “c0ckr $pan!el”.
“Em@ilCRX” is the spam software used. It is quite good providing one’s ISP is not a spam enabler like Kornet.
They’re already the reigning Olympic archery and OECD suicide champions…
WOO-HOO! In yer face, Korea!
Does it work if you check your email through your browser?
Someguy, nope, it actually tracks the senders IP address down and can not be fooled. It is thorough like nothing else I’ve used, only Kornet administrators actually block this from working completely, thus the moral of the story is don’t use an ISP that employs spammers.
The software is at hendricom.com (em@ailCRX).
Checked it, Elgin. It’s for Mac OSX… I wonder if your weren’t being blocked, but rather that you made the ‘mistake’ of using a Mac in a country that is run on Microsoft software.
Whoa, my beloved country the Philippines has overtaken Korea in spam? We must be doing something good! I guess our humble dialups and 128kbps broadband are now leaving ‘em mighty VDSL connections in the dust.
“Someguy”, CRX is both windows and mac and it uses the MX tables kept by the ISP to perform its magic. Don’t break your neck talking about OSX because I have already had an in depth discussion with the who wrote the software on why it suddenly quit doing the look-up for the IP addresses and he has confirmed that the problem can only be Kornet.
. . . “with the guy who wrote the software . . .” etc. that is.
