Way too many mechanical problems to check for, but the basic would be to check if the oil is leaking from the engine and the struts, suspension (drive 60km/h, break, and see if the car rocks back and forth...if so, it needs new struts)). You also need to check if the hood/fenders/bumpers look like they have been repaired (signs of an accident)... Do left and right turns (slower and higher speeds) to see if the car handles well, or if it makes any strange noises. So, the best advice I can give you is... Buy from a dealer you know (or from a relative of one of your friends who is a dealer) or buy from someone you know who is selling (offer them the same amount a dealer will give them).
