"Another must-see attraction is tongsi, a traditional Jeju outhouse with a built-in pig pen for human waste disposal. Though it doesn't remain in actual use today, it's fun to visit the exhibit since it shows how they were used in the old days."

i'm sure you've heard tales of an ajushi who lit a cigarette inside one of those waterless, poop huts, where they ignited methane gas to get blasted away like there was a bomb.

Poop/pee huts. Dweat gan.

Always smells like hell, flies, worms, galore.

I've even heard that in jeju, some grow a pig inside. Urban legend? Based on observing a pig, and trying to feed it a variety of things once, I'm afraid to say it may not be urban legend. They really eat anything. Even their own poop.

Not exactly the same, but close enough;

Aunty Entity: We call it Underworld. That's where Bartertown gets its energy.
Max: What, oil? Natural gas?
Aunty Entity: Pigs.
Max: You mean pigs like those?
Aunty Entity: That's right.
Max: Bullshit!
Aunty Entity: No. Pig shit.
Max: What?
The Collector: Pig shit. The lights, the motors, the vehicles, all run by a high-powered gas called methane. And methane cometh from pig shit.
