An offer you can’t refuse

A KT headline that would even make Tony Soprano chuckle: “Roh Sends Message to IOC Visiting Officials” Seriously, do they actualy edit that paper?

“A winter Olympics taking place in the world’s last divided country would further elevate the Olympic ideal.’’

Well yeah, but as far as I know, Cyprus doesn’t have much in the way of snow-covered mountains that are good for skiing, what with being in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, and all.

Would’ve been more effective had it said “Noh sends Massage…”

To be more specific, he could have described Korea as “the world’s last divided country (but we’re friends now!) with four perfect seasons (including winter!) that has been invaded a thousand times in her five thousand year history (but no threat of that now, so worry not!)”. Not sure if my revision would be any more accurate, but it would certainly have narrowed it down a little.

The KT isn’t a perfect paper, but they do have Michael Breen on Fridays, so I’ll cut them some slack. I knew a guy who worked for the other 700 won Korean back in the 90s. Whenever he reported typos or other mistakes to superiors, he was often A)ignored, or B)told the passage in question was correct and that he was wrong. Maybe not surprisingly, he soon learned to stop caring and was happier for it.

I guess that’s to be expected from a guy who never went to university.

“I guess that’s to be expected from a guy who never went to university.”

Add to that a guy who had barely bothered to explore the world outside the ROK until he became President. Similar international travel experience to another world leader I can think of, though the guy I’m thinking of actualy graduated from a couple of pretty good ones.

I have always been amazed on how much emphasis has been placed on the Olympic Games. It is a global jerk-off. It allows country’s that are little more than piss holes in the snow the chance to compete against the super powers. Other than guilt backwards countries that host the games to clean up their act, what do they contribute to humanity? Spare me!

Shame on you for poking fun at these newspaper hard-working reporters.
