I’m in the lovely southern port town of Tongyeong-si, Gyeongsangnam-do for two days. A pretty town if there has ever been one, situated on a peninsula jutting out into the South Sea.
Here’s the obligatory geobukseon photo:
And here’s a night shot of the Tongyeong Bridge:
Some other notes:
- Congratulations to Joe of ZenKimchi Korean Food Journal (an outstanding blog) for getting into the New York Times.
- In case anyone cares, I’ve rearranged my Flickr photos.
- Uri Party defections are 29 and (probably) rising.
- Maxim model Ursula Mayes and her breasts (which I’ll assume are from the German side of the family) will be celebrating the Lunar New Year in Korea with her Korean mother. She, too, will be joining efforts to help multi-racial children in Korea.
- Speaking of multi-racial Koreans, the Kyunghyang Shinmun ran a pretty good piece on Incheon United rookie Kang Su-il. Talk about being dealt a tough hand—half black, never saw his father, mother was 40 when she had him, and apparently spent much of his youth getting into fights. Still, he’s managed to break into the K League.
- Jews—when they’re not being accused of running the world in Korean comics, they’re being used as a money-making model in China. If I might ask a favor of my Jewish readers, I know you’re all probably busy holding America hostage, funding Europe’s wars, organizing the mass slaughter of native Americans and slave trading (Rhie Won-bok really needs to stop drinking with Mel Gibson), but if you could, during your next Great Jewish Conspiracy meeting, would you please mention that we could really use a decent bagel shop in Itaewon. A kosher deli would be nice, too—you can’t get a knish anywhere in this country. Thanks.

Tongyeong is a beautiful town, to bad you didn’t visit in the spring. Have fun checking out the colonial period underwater tunnel.
