Do-it-yourself (DYI) culture is common enough in Korea but this latest example seems to pay homage to “Cart Rider” (the Korean version of “Super Mario Cart”), the game that has defined the leisure hours of many kids here in Korea. If anyone really knows anything else about this picture, please add suitable commentary. This came from Makezine.com.

Wish I had one!!!
Rube Goldberg would be proud of this one.
Not only is the front wheel of the cart flat, the training wheels on the scooter look like they are held on with masking tape. Dear Jesus!
Simply awesome.
It’s LEGAL to drive this thing?!
Now that’s a hack!
Why is this thing not on the sidewalk? Tsk, tsk, tsk…amateurs.
All it really needs is a rocking chair and Granny.
You ever get the feeling it’s 47 millions farmers playing dress up?
Almost certainly not (the guy isn’t wearing a helmet, if nothing else.) But what do you think the cops are going to do when they see this thing driving down the road? Ticket the driver? Naww… not when they have bigger fish to fry - like cruising in the police car for chicks.
That is great. Think of the work that went into building that contraption, too! We can see how he (she? can’t tell) steers, but how does the driver brake!?
The steering assembly looks like this (forgive me for the ASCII art):

So maybe there are cables between the upper and lower right and left branches to pull on the brake levers?
This software obviously doesn’t like leading spaces, but you get the idea….
So it is ergonomically designed after all.
The photo was taken in Ulsan on the road leading to Jeong-seong Po industrial area. I’d saw it up close a month or so ago and after seeing what it was held together with, I would think the last thing on Humpty’s mind would be getting a traffic violation. You gotta love it though!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Hope peace, love and prosperity rings in all your homes.
this is such a cool blog. You can post a pic, and an eyewitness will verify it. You can write quote a news article, and the person involved with answer here. Definately a great blog.
Poor guy has a flat on one of the running wheels on the cart. Genius contraption though, looks worthy of a prize of some sort.
